In collaboration with Emory University, the Library of Tibetan Works & Archives has officially launched the Digital Library of LTWA. It is a web based institutional digital repository that enables you to access the digitized collection of the original materials of ancient Tibetan Buddhist manuscripts, official records, and important documents. This digital repository provides an alternative to the conventional resources collection and it offers an easy access to end number of remote users with an archival source of learning and research.
There are thousands of rare and sacred manuscripts being kept carefully in the LTWA, and all these manuscripts have never been digitized in any format before. Thus, it is extremely unlikely they would be part of any other digital collection. Most of the manuscripts were brought from different parts of Tibet by devotees to offer to His Holiness the Dalai Lama or for their safekeep in various places. Subsequently many of these were donated to LTWA from the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and various individuals for safekeeping and public access. These manuscripts were available in block print or paper format and we have now digitized around 30% of these collections and readers can virtually explore over 3000 rare Tibetan Buddhist manuscripts.
